Did God really give all of us a "sound mind"? I believe Him, so we must all have one... so what is stopping everybody from BEING sound?
I've always known that people don't think the same. In the past year I've realized the spectrum of people's thought processes is much broader than I believed. As a result, miscommunication is everywhere. Communication and social skills are more valuable than ever in this world of idea overload. Not all ideas are bad, but keep in mind this line from Inception: "What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere.
We are all infected with ideas - some good, some bad. What's even more interesting is the way all our ideas tie together. People can't seem to connect the dots very well. Folks who don't seem to think rationally, evidenced by the ideas they harbor, after put me in a "Squidward mood" as I've affectionately named it. I named it thus because Squidward once said, "Everyone's an idiot except for me."
This is not a good mood to be in; ironically, it makes me more of an idiot. The more I focus on the ideas of others, the more it drives me nuts and the more I start thinking like them. This is NOT good! It seems I should just worry about my own ideas, making sure they are well-connected, good ideas, and focus on knowing what I'm talking about. The more I understand my own ideas, the better equipped I am to defend and spread them. The key is not to know how to rebuttal other ideas, but to know truth very, VERY well.
Let go of the crazy world's philosophies, let go of being right, and just cling to truth.
